Illustrative rendering of the morning arrival at Hilongos — a Roble-livery RORO vessel, not a named ship.
Leyte
Hilongos
Hilongos is our most frequent Leyte call — every night from Cebu, and three days a week in daylight as well. The town sits on a wide bay with the pier right at the edge of the poblacion, so you step off the ramp and you are already in town.

A traveller’s notes
Around Hilongos
01
The old Spanish church
The stone church and belfry above the plaza are the oldest things in town and a five-minute walk from the pier.
02
Southern Leyte, onward
Vans and buses to Bato, Hindang, Inopacan and Maasin leave from beside the port through the morning.
03
Market mornings
The public market is busiest just after the night boat lands — the best time for breakfast and for fruit to take with you.
